Basic Reasoning Questions

Why should you be given this position over others?:

I belive I have the maturity, professionalism and attitude that potentially sets me above other players. I hope to have constantly shown this traits through my actions and behaviour and believe this makes me an ideal candidate for Moderator. I want to be able to contribute to the server and apply myself to the moderation of the server. I have been apart of numerous Gmod communities and understand the expectations required of me, I can apply this experience and professionalism to the staff team to make a positive contribution to the server overall. I believe I have the skills required to be a competent and impartial Moderator.

Why should you be trusted with this position? and do you believe others think of you with the same perspective?:

I should be trusted with this position because I have proven through my actions and behaviour that I am a mature and responsible individual. I have demonstrated this through my positions in-character, often trusting me with oversight of other players as well as maintaining and following high standards. I have confidence that I demonstrate the required skills and attitude of a Moderator. I try to help and be an example to those around me, and believe I can transfer this mindset into the moderation team with the confidence from the community to make fair and impartial decisions regarding staff sits and moderation in general.

Why are you applying for this position?:

I am applying for this position because my goal has always been to make the biggest positive impact of the community, whether that be in-character or out-of-character. I believe I can bring a meaningful and competent addition to the moderation team and that has inspired me to apply. I have a thorough understanding of roleplay and server rules and am ready to take the next step in applying for the moderation team, to help maintain the rules on the server and provide a welcoming and fair experience to current and new players of the community. Being able to apply for this position lets me continue to make a positive impact on the community, a mindset I hope to be able to apply to this position.

Before we continue, anything else you’d like to add?:

Moderator Reasoning Questions

You see a civilian killing others without an obvious roleplay reasoning behind it, what do you do?:

I would drag the civilian aside for an admin sit and explain and see if he understand the concept of PassiveRP and the civilian rules. This shouldn't need to escalate unless the civilian is being hostile in the admin sit in which case I would set them back to their regiment and provide them a verbal warning for the future. For the most part, this is usually just someone being unaware of what civilians are meant to do when the server is off-ship and can be easily solved by explaining the roles and rules of being a civilian without needing to take it any further.

Someone Mass RDM’s and disconnects from the server. What do you do?

I would immediately grab the users SteamID from logs and pass it along to a higher rank staff to ban the person for Mass RDM. If required, I would grab a copy of the logs/screenshot to provide any context for the situation.

A user has been given tools for training. You soon discover they are using the tools to prop kill and prop block. What course of action do you take?:

I would remove tools from the player and take them aside for an admin sit. Prop killing and prop blocking is usually very obvious and has to be done with a clear intent and knowledge of what the person is doing. All !tool commands should come with a text warning of the consequences of abusing tools. I would ask them to explain why they did it and depending on the intention give a verbal warning or official warning. In this scenario it should be very obvious to anyone abusing tools what they are doing is wrong, especially with the chat message alongside most staff's tool binds.

Someone is bullying another member of the community. What do you do?:

First of all I would take aside the victim and privately ask him for his perspective as well as any videos, screenshots or context that I have missed. I would the do the same for the other parties involved including anyone who watched it happen and the person who did the bullying. After obtaining an informed perspective I would punish the 'bully' as appropriate to the server rules. Bullying and harrassment are unacceptable not just on the server but also within the community and the appropriate punishment would be to take the person who was bullying aside, explain what they did wrong and that their behaviour won't be tolerated and issue a warn depending on the severity. These situations always need to be handled carefully to ensure that a fair and impartial judgement is being handed out.

A player enters the servers and begins to make racial slurs. What do you do?:

I would take the player aside to an admin sit and proceed to inform him of servers rules and his innapopriate behaviour. If the player is spamming voice chat with racial swears, I would gag him and if he is spamming chat I would mute him. Racism is always an issue for any form of moderator on the internet and needs to be handled swiftly and effectively. I would warn the player for Racism and proceed to a ban if he continued.

Someone threatens to DDOS the server. What do you do?

DDOS threats should be taken seriously regardless of if the the person actually goes through with it. I would first of all grab their SteamID and monitor anything else they say, if the context is clearly in a mingy or aggressive manner I would handle it as such. If the threat seems to be more genuine I would inform the rest of staff of the threat, especially higher up staff to ban the person who threatened to DDOS. DDOS'ing is a serious issue and shouldn't be neglected even if it doesn't seem serious.

You see a higher ranking staff member abuse their powers. What do you do?

First and foremost I would record the situation as it happened. Afterwards I would try and talk to the Staff member to try and understand the situation in case there is an explanation to their actions. If I believe it is still an abuse of their powers then I would pass up the evidence and the context to the next highest rank staff. All staff have an expectation to follow the rules, the same way we expect Users to follow the rules, if a member of staff is abusing their powers and isn't get punished it only encourages staff and users to continue to abuse them.

This man is going places. Meets the qualities of a quality moderator and more. Since being given IHC Tempest has made his intentions of bettering Serious RP on IG very clear so why not give him moderator to top it off. I'd say good luck but I have a feeling you won't need it.

+1 In the time I've known Tempest, I can safely say he's a a loyal, upstanding member of the community who is dedicated, level headed and is very good at dealing with situations fairly.  For these reasons I think he'd make an excellent Moderator, good luck mate.
