Neutral

Don't get me wrong you're a great guy Scheff, and an extremely mature person in your own sense, but you've got a hard personality to indulge and most people can see that as narcissistic  and condescending, which may not be great traits of a moderator. You are often very indulged and engulfed by your own roleplay a lot of the time as you get very heavy into character with a lot of your roleplay done on the server, moderators often need to be able to take themselves in and out of roleplay rather fluidly in order to take claims when the need arises whilst on the server. I personally don't think you're someone that often likes interruption to roleplay, and figure that the role may not be best suited to your liking.

You're a long time player on the server and extremely trusted with various things, however as previously stated by others in the application you've had a few issues.
But this is Imperial Gaming, and who can't expect there to be problems or disagreements, especially in give or take 4 years of playing the community.

Now I won't say Scheff is 'quick to anger' like most people are describing here, if you've ever seen people in debates they are not arguing. It is entirely valid for people to debate their points especially in a community such as this. Most of the times that scheff has been described as "angry" could and should easily be viewed as a concerned community member speaking out about their concerns of the community; Much like I have done in the past several times, as I talked in a similar tone as Scheff did.

All in all, I just believe your personality and viewpoints of how you choose to indulge yourself into your roleplay rather extensively will collide with the role of being a moderator.

PLAYER SERVER PROFILE INFORMATION

In-Game Name (Most Identifiable): SCHEFF

SteamID32: STEAM_0:0:58980244

Steam Profile Link: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198078226216

Time Played (UTime): 315089146_playtime2021.png.9a0229598840a8dabfbbf5621f98a423.png
Due to multiple UTime resets, this does not represent my overall playtime, which is likely between ten or twenty weeks more. I have been an active community member since January 2017.

PLAYER HISTORY

Have you had any warnings in the past? If so, please list them:

I have had two warnings, but one from November 2018 was deleted by Kosmos, our Community Founder, which was 1x RDM on a mingey ST who had been set to Recruit just before I killed him. This warn was received by Wolf, then-Community Owner, without being pulled into a sit and Wolf later warned a player for simply swearing in OOC without a sit as well.
My only withstanding warning is for impulsively disconnecting the server to avoid an in-RP punishment, a public execution I wrongly thought was a PK, on December 15th 2020.

Have you had any bans in the past? If so, please list them:

I have not been banned on the Imperial RP server, but I did receive a brief ban on the Teamspeak by Tank last year (?) for exploiting the ability to give roles to anybody on the Teamspeak.

Have you had any similar positions (Staff, PAC3, Developer) on other servers? If so, please list them:

I was a Moderator on the Imperial Gaming Imperial RP from June 2017 to July 2018 where I reached the rank of Senior Moderator.
I've had access to PAC3 on Imperial Gaming since September 2017, with Tier 2 access granted in December 2017 and Tier 3 access granted in August 2020; I am the only active User with Tier 3.

BASIC REASONING QUESTIONS

Why should you be given this position over others?:

I should be given this position over others due to my longstanding and consistent commitment to this community since close to its inception. I have long-time experience in moderation on Imperial Gaming and have proven myself to hundreds of players over the years that I am a professional yet fun, and serious yet compassionate individual.
I have intensive knowledge on how a Moderator operates and what their responsibilities are, and have great goals and ambitions I wish to achieve while in the moderation team.
I am an individual who would, or at least try very hard to, eliminate bias from conflicts and sits and provide a sensible solution to any problem at hand. My real life friends could attest to this being a key part of my personality: a mediator.

Why should you be trusted with this position? and do you believe others think of you with the same perspective?:

I should be trusted with the position of Moderator due to my aforementioned long-time commitment to this community and my previous one year tenure in the moderation team. I have proven myself to be trusted with many sensitive documents, both regarding roleplay and OOC matters, as well as competent with tools. I am an honest individual, so players can expect what I say is to be the real truth and that I would not be lying or hiding information in a malicious manner for my gain/their detriment.

I understand that over my many years of being in this server, notably this year and last year, that I have gathered disdain from a few players. This saddens me, as mentioned before, I always wish to be the mediator in conflicts. Some of this negative reputation is uncalled for and unprovoked, but some of it stems from negative interactions I have had with some players, mainly in roleplay. Unfortunately, negative actions in roleplay reflect on the OOC conceptions of players, and I am not immune to this - I have done some pretty shitty things in roleplay that would piss off these players, and vice versa. In this regard, some players would not trust me with the position of Moderator, but I am certain a large majority of players would.

Why are you applying for this position?:

I am (finally) applying for the position of Moderator because of my love for this community. I wish to give back to this community, which is evident by my donations to this community and several projects that benefit the community, these projects being the LFS walkers and rp_lothal's custom textures. Do not take my mention of donations as me providing a reason to why I should be a Moderator, I am simply providing supplementary evidence to my commitment to this community - I am simply gushing.
Being a part of the moderation team, i.e. the driving force to better players' experiences in this community, is part of that wish to give back. I am already good friends with a lot of the staff team and being in the team itself would strengthen these bonds, creating a better experience for me personally.
Being a Moderator also comes with the privilege of having tools on-hand at all times, and I know I could use these tools for purposes outside of moderation duties to benefit roleplay not just for myself but for other players.

Before we continue, anything else you’d like to add?:

MODERATOR REASONING QUESTIONS

You see a civilian killing others without an obvious roleplay reasoning behind it, what do you do?:

I would first approach the situation in roleplay and ask the intent behind their killings. I will attempt to keep the situation in roleplay as long as I could until it was clearly not an effective method of dealing with the player, the threshold being obvious malicious OOC intent.
If the player's answer(s) are generally acceptable, I would give them a brief reminder (not verbal warning) in PMs as a Moderator that murderous roleplay as a civilian, without proper establishment, is generally frowned upon due to the consensus among many players that being a civilian is an excuse to minge and RDM, and urge them to lessen this behaviour for the betterment of their image. I would then continue roleplay as normal.
If the player's answer(s) are blatantly mingey or otherwise unacceptable, I would give them a verbal warning to end this behaviour immediately or be removed from their civilian role and be possibly blacklisted from being one again. If they ignore this verbal warning, I would follow through with what I said: remove them from their civilian role, check their past warnings to see if they should be blacklisted, and warm them for RDM.
Following either situation, I would check damage logs to see who attacked first and confide with players who were killed to see how they felt about being killed by the civilian, mainly with the intent of seeing whether they thought it was unjust or unprovoked.

Someone Mass RDMs and disconnects from the server. What do you do?:

I would immediately grab their SteamID from logs and/or other players that could provide it to me. I would then confide with each player who was killed by them to see if their actions were blatantly unjustified and unprovoked. Depending on the players' responses and the amount of people indiscriminately killed, I would contact more senior staff for advice on how to continue, providing their SteamID in the process, and instate a ban of either several days or a week myself or have senior staff permanently ban them if they see fit.

A user has been given tools for training. You soon discover they are using the tools to prop kill and prop block. What course of action do you take?:

I would immediately pull the user into a sit and tell them how severe and unacceptable their actions are. I would see if they are aware of the rules regarding exploiting props in this way.
If they are obviously unaware (partially indicated by low playtime and/or low rank), I would give them a verbal warning but strip them of their tools and delete their props as punishment.
If they should be definitely aware of the rules, I would strip them of their tools, delete their props, warn them for RDM and exploitation of tools and contact senior staff about the possibility of blacklisting them from tools, either temporarily or permanently, depending on the severity of their exploits.

Someone is bullying another member of the community. What do you do?:

I would immediately pull both players from roleplay and into an controlled environment (in case of the Star Destroyer map, the top of the bridge) and I would separate them. I would ask each player separately why they themselves and the other player were acting the way they were with the goal of establishing the origin and background of their disputes. I would gauge how malicious the bully's actions are via each of their testimonies and previous actions I could have witnessed, and assure the victim that the situation will be resolved.
If I believe it is acceptable, I would have both players confront each other under my supervision as to give a space for explanation and/or apology.
Regardless, depending on the severity of the bully's actions, I would inform them that bullying is not tolerated and is against server rules, and warn them for bullying. If I believe it is necessary, I would monitor the situation over the coming days to ascertain whether the bully has conceded and if the victim is fine.

A player enters the servers and begins to make racial slurs. What do you do?:

I would immediately pull the player into a sit and state that what they are saying is blatantly unacceptable according to server rules and tell them to stop. If they continue to spout racial slurs, I would grab their SteamID, kick them, and then ban them. Depending on how often they spouted slurs, how malicious their behaviour was and how offensive the slurs were, I would either instate a ban myself or contact senior staff for advice on how to proceed, seeing if a permanent ban should be instated.

Someone threatens to DDOS the server. What do you do?:

I would grab their SteamID and immediately kick them from the server. I would then advise senior staff to ban the player permanently, as it is against server rules and is a federal crime.

You see a higher ranking staff member abuse their powers. What do you do?:

I would confide with other staff members to gather more witnesses to the high ranking staff member's abuse. With enough witnesses, an immediate group testimony could be made to management to provide evidence and urge them to deal with the problematic staff member. Whether if I am able to gather enough witnesses or not, I would still attempt to record the abuse to gather undeniable evidence against the staff member, which I would then present to management myself.

+1
Why there so many people -1 on him, he is a good person and always acts the best he can in situations. (Where Sith are treated like shit which you are allowed to get mad) Just because you only interact with him in RP where he is a hate filled Inq, does not mean when he does a sit he will be one sided and bully those who he dislikes. A moderators role is to serve the users, and I doubt he would abuse this power as he is a well behaved person compared to majority of the server and would only use his power within what he is allowed to as seen when he uses pac. (:

I held off on commenting on this application for a while. While I don't think anyone can argue against Scheffs dedication to the community I have to admit that I'm personally unsure about his suitability specifically for a moderator position where he'd be handling sits between players. I'm not of the personal belief that staff members need to be shining paragons in the community, they're volunteers who give their time to try and make the server operate efficiently. If we required being a perfect individual I know for sure I wouldn't be here. That said however, I have doubts about how well Scheff would operate as a moderator.

Scheff in my experience has a very clear view of how he wants roleplay to go and has demonstrated that he can get extremely abrasive when that roleplay doesn't go how he wishes. Similarly he's made clear that he has a very specific view of how roleplay should operate on the server that does not align particularly well with how a lot of the server itself works in practice. In my opinion, scheffs dedication to furthering his own rp ultimately hampers his ability to view certain scenarios in a more open way and is what makes me doubt that he'd be good at handling certain types of sits and ultimately if he'd be a good choice for a t-mod candidacy.

I myself have been in situations with Scheff where he's gotten extremely angry with how RP senarios played out and while having happened quite some time ago, I've personally witnessed Scheff DC during RP senarios because he didn't like how the RP was going while he was detained. While one of those incidents led to the warn mentioned on the application, there was another scenario where it didn't extend to staff involvement, I do not believe this was behaviour that would be suitable in a moderator. While these incidents occurred some time ago I still extend the belief that I don't think what caused these issues to occur has changed. Furthermore, while I absolutely understand how Tier 3 is a supporting element of your trustworthiness, I am also of the understanding that you've been called up for wearing unapproved pacs on multiple occasions, unlike the DC senarios I mentioned, these to my knowledge happened recently. Similarly as delta mentioned theres also the matter of breaking other pac rules which I'll refrain from going into as the rest was already noted by delta.

While I'm aware I haven't always been on the best of terms with scheff, I don't mean to be insulting or demeaning with this response. I have an immense respect for scheffs dedication and activity on the server and the part he plays within the community, however I just do not believe that he would be a good candidate for t-mod. I believe mongo put it best previously.

  • Has an Understanding of Server rules.
  • Long time player, has a Good Reputation among community.
  • First Tier 3 user ever I believe, shows level of Maturity and Attitude.
  • General Poor Attitude in OOC, not to say not a lot of people in Staff positions or users are also like that.
  • Quick to anger, which in a staff member is bad, however I am not one to say that as I have had a Staff Report on that issue myself and in Recent times on the server situations have led to Relatable.
  • I believe as a moderator you may use your privileges of spawning weapons or vehicles to further benefit yourself in rp, which may reflect badly on yourself as a moderator and reputation in the community.
  • On the Topic of PAc3, you have publicly admitted to breaking pac rules either as a joke or serious in many IG pac related channels or in ooc, I do not have screenshots for these claims, but this is just what I have seen. Many people are basing the fact you have Tier 3 as a reason for you to be mod but it's not always the best choice.

think is a genuinely nice man but delta has valid points

History with Scheff:

An almost religiously devout role-player, I've had the pleasure of working with Scheff during our time in the Imperial Navy where my opinions are largely based from. Working alongside and indirectly observing his behaviour as I usually sit silent in the TS, I have primarily never had an issue or any ill-thought towards him and his character. He does his research and goes the extra mile when needed, whether asked to or not.

Current Standing with Scheff:

Whether in the Navy or not, whether I actively converse with you or not, it will not infect my respect for this man who to me attempts to reflect the attributes of a refined and collected gentlemen within the community at all times possible. With this being said, its hard to imagine any negative intentions from Scheff in his so called "heated" moments. In fact, I think believe without a doubt this very notion reduces the weighting of when Scheff, according to others, 'blows up'. To me, it seems that it is most probable that both sides would have had a contribution in elevating the situation to a level of being "heated".

Give him a bloody go, mistakes are mistakes, we should be helping each other improve and rectify past oversights. Lastly, a quote I like from Quora which accurately reflects my opinion of the -1's, "A gentle man tolerates provocation far longer than others and when he finally does express anger, it's bound to be explosive.". Just in case someone misinterprets this quote, I am not dismissing any significant faults by Scheff, again, if any, I merely comment on the ironic nature of those opinions who are well against Scheff based upon from what is said. If there's more context and explanation, lets hear it. Otherwise, I essentially believe that Scheff's capacity to be of use and the server is being hindered.

BIG UPS AND RESPECT Master Sensei Noodle.

Conclusion:
Fat +1

Zing on and never stop zinging and sippin that empty cup of tea.
