INQ & IG In Events....

Recommended Posts

So recently we had a massive off ship event which was meant to be a " one life event " and it was strategic and somewhat realistic star wars/military Role Play... until i had someone with 1000 hp jump in the way of where most guns are shooting from.

Whenever i see an INQ as a EC they either A. jump in front of you to say " you shot me, i can kill you " or B. they body block you/ jump to the EC spawn and just stand there. people from last nights off ship will know what i am talking about but can this please change?

I as a ST notice the INQ don't even listen to people in command of the operation and do whatever they because " we don't have to listen to army/navy/compnor " it just gets in the way and half the time ruins the everything we have in role play because some greedo head in a robe stand in front of a formation and doesn't die ( Of Course this is different when they guard you with sabers ).

now i guess you have heard it from me but my request is: if there isn't any saber weilders for these guys to kill is it possible they could be set as like a scout trooper EC or a stormtrooper EC like what @Phobiaused to do with imperial guards. instead of having literal tanks walking around there was like an actual army making things more fun.

The 82nd stormtrooper detachment worked VERY well when it was around having the army numbers and making it feel like a military with the brute strength of numbers ( also makes it easier on the event master when it comes to gun to gun combat instead of making gun VS miscellaneous weaponry )

NOTE: Not All Inquisitors and Imperial Guards do this, they can be usefull when guarding with their sabers but when they are just standing in the middle of a hallway doing nothing but screwing everyone else over gets annoying. very fast

I clicked this topic expecting the worst. I expected a rant. However, You addressed the problem, from your POV, and you offered a viable solution. +1

look even if this came across as aggresive i am sorry but i just found that showing it the way i saw it and the experience of it was best.

You know, I don't agree often with clover / strix. But today. Well. You are 100% correct.

As an EM, its frustrating when a sith just pull up and sit in front of people. With the mentality that you mentioned, "you shoot me, I kill you" after walking in front of troopers.

I've seen this time and time again and its getting a bit out of hand.

Gotta agree with clover. If there are no saber wielders, bring back the 82nd storm troopers...

I also 100% agree with this, I myself can admit I have done the, you shot me, i kill you thing, something needs to be done. Could be making sure that there is always a saber or giving the choice to go the 82nd ST detachment

Whatever is chosen something must be actually done.

This is primarily why I don't participate in events anymore aside if there is a Jedi involved (because sith are forced to do the event if there is a saber wielder), even if it isn't your fault and you try you're damn hardest to not get in the way, you somehow end up getting targted, by mistake, by friendly fire, who knows, so then instead of doing the staby staby and running in there we primarily act as a shield guard for the Army (since most of them end up getting killed instantly when 107th or shock aren't there.

Now I cannot speak for all Inquisitors and especially not for the Imperial Guards, because they primarily have their own views regarding the event that happened yesterday, and I'll leave it up to them if they want to explain or tell you what happened. Most of the Inquisitors besides myself actually do want to participate in events, and normally they want to participate as Inquisitors, not some random ST, and this comes with its many challenges for both the EC team and the EM team, as they have to forcefully put in a saber wielder in a random event just so INQ actually stay away from the main event.

What I saw in yesterdays event was complete and utter chaos, Army shooting army, someone throwing grenades at their comrades (I wont name names) and basic miscommunication, I can very clearly see your point and the argument you're making and to some degree I do agree with you, and If it was my choice I would have INQ sidelined from any and all events, with the option to be turned into an St or an EC if they want to participate, but it's not.

Back to the event, we had 3 Inquisitors on and a few Royal guards, one of the Inquisitors unfotuently was doing the wrong thing by punching others but myself and the other Inquisitor primarily kept out of the way for army to do their job, as we just wanted to watch since;

1. We didnt want to ruin any RP that was being had

2. Having us saber swing in there would only cause more chaos.

I admit I did however see Imperial Guards doing alot of the front lining, but I didn't see any problem with it besides shore and 107th continuously yelling at them to move. Once or twice I was caught in the hallway, surrounded by troopers, making falling back impossible, leading me to jump to the very end of the base just so Army could have their fun. The only times we were ignited as INQ was when we were actually being shot at, and the ignitition was only and I truly mean, only in self defence, It's not fair to say that at the end of the event INQ ruined the whole thing, when we very clearly ourselves were not doing what half the server and the Event team thought we were doing. (also all the complaints about the Shyrack rp :pepehands:)

Thats my thoughts, my brains fuzzy.

I've seen scenarios where the saber-weilder refuses to confront the opposing force's big boss too, resulting in them hanging back to just deflect while there's an enemy with a vibrosword, or saber just sitting there waiting to be engaged by INQ/IG. In the end, it lessens the enjoyment of the ECs and needlessly relegates their role to human shield to deflect blaster bolts.

I think there needs to be some level of encouragement or push to get them to properly engage in those instances, but in the cases we're talking about, yeah having them as something other than that role would give them more to do in events not catering to their role.

We engage we get yelled at. We dont, we get yelled at. Sometimes its just a group of people trying to shift blame to a un-enjoyable or failed mission, either way it dosen't encourage us.

I must say I have to agree with Clover here. Whenever there's been an event ran with no hostile saber wielders, I find myself zipping around, trying to enter firefights just to give myself something to do. I don't do it to "get in the way" or "annoy" people on purpose, I only just try to engage myself in the scenario.

This often leads to me wanting to fly a TIE/RG in events where there's hostile air, but if any ISC are on then that itself makes it difficult unless scramble orders are given, and with that being said I'd really like to avoid spending another 2 hours in MH2 arguing with Navy over a stupid issue where I'm not allowed to fly.

So, yes, temporarily setting INQ/IG to Event 6 (or whatever the non-EC one is) when there's nothing specific for INQ/IG to do is a completely viable option. Maybe we could have the freedom to @admin ask to be set to a Stormtrooper for the duration of the event. End result: INQ/IG have something fun to do, and don't get in the way of other military during the event. Everybody wins.

@Staff Team take this man's suggestion on-board please.

Yeah I get that, we certainly need more visible clarification for which is which.

Well @Higashi do you guys want to bring back the whole idea of the " 82nd Stormtrooper division " or a " 82nd Scout division ". i want to here the idea on this because the time i was a medic and saw this happen it was succesfull but i want to know if you guys enjoy it. if side A likes it and side B likes it then we come to an middle point where we get best of what we both want. a bigger military force making it feel like an army is one part that is better. but also makes it have less unbalanced numbers in HP. ( also making it easier for the EM to balance it out when it comes to gun vs gun )

Ill make sure its brought up in the next Sith meeting. I like the idea you've brought up and it settles most of the problems Army and EM's have with Sith, but I'm also sure that some INQ wouldnt want to be set as the ST's or Scout Division.

In that sense I’d suggest that maybe a maximum of two or one depending or server pop inq per event and have like a rotation so Inq know when they’ll actually be able to be inq during events. I believe we could still have 1 inquisitor per event as this would allow inquisitors to still do there role plus also ensure that there isn’t a million and that there not doing the whole jump in front shtick.

Thing is I myself will hardly ever want to be set as an ST, im sure there are a few others who wont want to be set as ST's, and forcing us into a different regiment we didnt want to be in would be unfair.

Unfortunately the community at large are in no position to change anything, everything is taken to management and other sith higherups (They're all in the discord).

We don't join Inquisitors to get set to a Storm Trooper or a Scout Trooper during an event, we join to play as an Inquisitor. The rules are in place as;

  • We're allowed to act as shields for the army, if the operating commander requests us to get the fuck out, then we do so.
  • We're not allowed to actively chase EC's for no reason unless
    • Actively being shot at

These are all things to be brought up in the Sith meeting to decide what Inquisitors actively want to do in Events.

it’s kind of fucking stupid but hear me out.
The LFS weapon emplacements for ec’s might be a good substitute to saber wielders to counter inquisitors and entertain them during events. It gives inquisitors another focus away from normal armies and they can’t be fucked instantly because force jump and all the rest. With this I’d suggest the anti-vehicle cannin because limited look area slow fire like 1 per 2 seconds rate but a high damage that would create a challenge for Inquisitors. Who ever mans the turret has to specifically aim for INQ and the turret should be like in a hard to get too spot.

Either way although it’s very difficult to do so I believe inquisitors should be given a different sub mission during the events. Inquisitors where never really used for open combat on deployments etc they mainly where used for hunting Jedi.
