Hello IG, Rook's Race has ended. @Lucky is victorious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome friends, halloween is near, and what better way to celebrate than a rhyme and a cheer.
While not strictly scary, or spooky, or other, it's for sure prime time to compete with eachother.

Dear Kumo, your event is but brilliant and immersive. Players enjoy that it's fun and recursive.
But I wanted to add something small, my own twist, so I'm adding my flair to the halloween list.

To the victor goes the spoils, of considerable size, but only one player can take home the prize.
Credits, points, what more could you need, we know you all suffer considerable greed.

It's a race, of sorts, between all of our kind. All are welcome to look for and find,
the answers I need, the clues are below. I hope you all enjoy this... I've put on a small show.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

** EDIT: HINTS ROUND TWO **

Spoiler

Firstly, let me draw your attention to information we have already stated. Opting not to read is not helpful in this challenge.

"But most of the race is not quite the same, as the rest of the challenges are outside the game." - In reference to Step One.
Your need for Garrys Mod ends with step one.

"2) I like to relax, though I may not be able. The number is wrong, what should be on my label?"
Imagine a trooper has spoken these words.

"The second is [2] from the top, [1] from the left, look down to find this letter."
Do it. Look down.

"But for some reason it sounds almost French, in a way."
The cypher. Not the cyphered text.

TWO
"Mqpw il dpgka dhbgk pbyvu mk chxqnn, hul ixp av sphs tvzg txvbb ox. Pol uqka punqkihaqqg uvb pcoa, aom dxpalz."
The message in step three is a message from me.

STEP ONE

Spoiler

The first step for you is to make me a list, some numbers of things that are easily missed.
But most of the race is not quite the same, as the rest of the challenges are outside the game.

I'll say it quite clearly, one number per clue. Six one digit numbers are needed from you.
And don't bother with guesses, you'll find it quite tricky, as step number two is awfully picky.

Good luck, make haste, the numbers are waiting. It's easy, I promise, a low difficulty rating... :kappaross:
And if you don't trust me, too bad, call your lawyer, but you'll find all you need on the Imperial Star Destroyer.

     1) The hall where one slumbers is low, and when done, the number you seek is the top number plus one.

     2) I like to relax, though I may not be able. The number is wrong, what should be on my label?

     3) I am a number, a quantity, of not a time, but a place. They are far, quite narrow, and connect one to space.

     4) A table, quite important, round and low, centered well. Behind you, an object! Quite a few, count and tell.

     5) An engine needs a place, a spy needs a space. They meet together, one not low, count the spy spots in a row.

     6) I shoot, I tire, I sit, I play. The tables in here... how many would you say?

STEP TWO

Spoiler

You found your six numbers, you must be quite driven! But now we want letters, for each number given.
Six letters to move to the next stages below, this step deters cheating by guessing them, though.

Note: "[1]" refers to the number found from clue 1. "[2]" to the second, etc.

The first thing you seek is letter [6] of word [2]: pertinent, elaborate, foresight, established, commander, gyration, melbourne, digeridoo.
The second is [2] from the top, [1] from the left, look down to find this letter.
The third is [5] in the word "réglisse". Unfortunately, I don't speak French.
The fourth is letter [3] in a [5] sided shape.
The fifth is letter [1]+[4]+[6] of the english alphabet.
The sixth is the symbol for number 1[3][4] of the international phonetic alphabet.

STEP THREE

Spoiler

Mqpw il dpgka dhbgk pbyvu mk chxqnn, hul ixp av sphs tvzg txvbb ox. Pol uqka punqkihaqqg uvb pcoa, aom dxpalz.

The cypher above is quite strange, I do say. But for some reason it sounds almost French, in a way.
You must use what you have! Each step has a purpose. This step has more layers than what's on the surface.

STEP FOUR

Spoiler

If you've made it this far, you're nearing the key! You'll need to combine step two with step three.
But you may feel quite cheated, my clue quite absurd... so use [6] as well, put it down as the third.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're sure you are finished? Located the key? Be certain, the key is in english, you see.
It's topical too, and not simply random... you'll know if you have it, our minds are in tandem.

The one who suceeds is indeed meritorious, to pass this dumb test, and be crowned victorious.
If so, we're done, for real, no lies. Open the lock, and claim this year's prize.

Well my dear Watson, it’s simply elementary. What you do is, you hold Rook’s girlfriend hostage until he gives up the answers. Ez.

Rook’s girlfriend here.

As if I could be held hostage by a bunch of little nerds.

It was fun going through it, though I did get stuck a bit on a couple things until things clicked (and boy did I feel stupid when they did).

He's going to post how to get the answers soon but honestly if you feel up to it still try and see how far you can get, it feels better to work it out than to just get told the answer.
