Applicants History & Reasons

Have you had any warns (If so state them):

I have never had any warns on any servers

Have you had any bans (If so state them):

I have never had any bans on any servers

Have you been staff on any other servers or communities (If so state them):

Unofficial Owners advisor on EFG (Unreleased). From 3rd November until 26th November*, I have since cut all ties with the community to focus my time on Imperial Gaming.

What do you believe is the purpose of Moderators on the server:

As a moderator, you volunteer your time and effort to the players on the server, keeping the atmosphere safe and fun for the community as well as keeping an eye on players and dealing with rulebreakers. A moderator is expected to answer tickets sent in by players, dealing with a variety of problems and disasters that inevitably happen within a public environment. It requires patience, logical thinking, reasoning, as well as keeping calm under pressure. Moderators need a good attitude and are unbiased when it comes to dealing with any players.

As a moderator, you need to have a good image of being a mature and skilled staff member. Nobody remembers what you do, they remember how you make them feel. For instance, a player may have just joined the server and encountered a problem on their end, they contact staff but are met with a flippant and uninterested moderator. This could negatively affect their view of the server, which they then pass on to other potential members. They could even leave the community all together before really discovering what IG is all about.

Why are you applying to be a Trial Moderator:

When I started interacting with the Imperial Gaming community, I had never encountered serious roleplay, perhaps possibly no roleplay, at all before. Suddenly I was thrown into this whole new world where people had set facing positions, marching formations and allocated regiments with different skills. But the most important thing I noticed, was the people who became my friends the most amongst the players were the moderators and event master staff. I saw their dedication and appreciation for the server and its rules.

Over time I started to adopt their willing volunteer spirit, training recruits as much as I could, wanting to further my skills before I could even think about using them to help the server as staff. I didn't decide to write this application on a whim or because I wanted to, in fact, I thought long and hard about what I could contribute to the server before I wrote this application.

To summarise my answer, I am applying because I want to contribute to the atmosphere I felt when I joined IG. So that when new people are wandering around they are met with professional and helpful staff who make them feel like they are important and not just another role player.

What do you believe you can bring to the staff team:

I will bring my dedication and time as well as my love for Imperial Gaming and its reputation. I can be a very serious person when it comes to giving back to things I enjoy. I have useful skills in patience (greatly helped by training recruits and dealing with IRL mingy people). I can be active both when there are higher numbers of people on the server as well as early in the morning (Australia time) on Sundays and Mondays. I learn very quickly and know I would always be held responsible for my actions as staff at all times on the server if I were to be accepted.

Scenarios

Someone Mass RDM’s and disconnects from the server. What do you do?:

Firstly I would track down their steam id, contact the victims of this person and learn more information about what actually happened in context. I would gather all the evidence available, personally, I would create a folder with the screenshot/video evidence related to the person in question to keep things organised and uncomplicated if the situation needs to be reviewed by a higher up. After determining the level of the RDM I would then issue the relevant punishment for Mass RDM and disconnecting from the server to avoid their punishment.

Someone is bullying another member of the community. What do you do?:

Firstly, I would hear the story from the one who is being bullied to gather as much information as possible before interviewing the accused bully. If there were witnesses to the bullying I would get some evidence/statements from them as well. Once I have assessed the situation if I found the bullying to be seen as ‘harmless banter’ or that the situation seemed like no punishment was needed I would verbally warn the player for bullying and inform them that if they continue to act this way they will receive a server warn. If the evidence shows that this is a more serious matter I would give the player a warn for bullying and let them know that bullying is not tolerated on IG. I would let the person who had been bullied know that if the mistreatment continues or starts up again they should create another admin ticket or contact me for further assistance.

You see a higher ranking staff member abuse their powers. What do you do?:

I would immediately start shadow play and collect evidence of the abuse. I would take down the names of others who also saw the staff abuse their powers. I would speak to the staff member to see what they have to say about the situation (continuing to record) before contacting someone of a higher rank in staff, presenting them with all the evidence. I would save all of the evidence with a note and what I actually saw happen as details can fade from memory over time and the issue may be brought up later for discussion another time.

Someone threatens to DDOS the server. what do you do?:

As soon as the threat comes to my attention I will notify the appropriate higher staff members, carefully I would record all evidence available, keeping track of the player's activity and actions in logs and subtly keep an eye on the person in question if they are playing on the server. I would then seek out and interview people who were witnesses (if there are any) to the threat I would both record the interview and take brief notes of keynotes for if the situation needs to be taken further. If the need arose for it and I had the correct evidence I would ban the person. Otherwise, I would leave the decision in higher ranking staff members hands, ready to help in any way possible. I would share all written information with staff before leaving my computer.

EDIT: Changing to a -1 at this current stage I don't believe you possess the qualities required of a moderator.

As well as this you are also currently pre-occupied as a Minecraft Server Owner, So I don't see you being able to balance both heavy responsibilities at this current stage,

NEUTRAL

Hey Ana,

Thank you for applying to become a moderator within the Imperial Gaming staff team. I have looked over your application and listed my thoughts/opinions below.

Positives:

  • Kind and friendly individual
  • Mature
  • Intentions seem pure
  • Well known
  • No warns
  • Some prior experience

Negatives

  • Application lacks detail
  • From what I have heard you left for EFG for a bit

Due to the reasons stated above I have made the judgement to give your application a NEUTRAL. Good luck with your endeavours in becoming a member of the Imperial Gaming moderator team and will see you around the ISD.

Sincerely,

Sully

+1 What is writen in the application provides enough detail, as well as good answers.
Know Ana well, as I have said with people in the past, she would make an excellent addition to the staff team, for not only the Imperial Gaming community, but to improve herself as a person.

As well as all this, I've been in regiments with Ana quite a few times, and she has proven to be responsible, mature, and anything good you could ask of a staff member.

One little bone to pick though, it would be good to see you dealing with stressful situations more head on.

I hope to see you on the team :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Although I am incredibly interested in becoming a T-Mod, over the next month I will be preparing and then moving to Australia. I would love if my application could be put on temporarily on hold until I have settled into my new home (potentially Mid March)
