Event masters essentially set up and oversee in-game incidents to give players new experiences and more things to do. They’ll usually call for players to stop whatever training / tryouts they’re doing and ask for volunteers to help by being an event character, then they’ll get everything set up and start it.

There are two main types of events, passive and aggressive. Passive is more based on role play and interactions made with the event characters whereas aggressive is usually pure gunfights and action (not always though). Events come in two forms as well, either off-ship or on-ship.

To sum things up, Event masters are the guys Who come up with creative ideas and storylines to give players more things to do whilst playing on the server.

Exactly what he said ^^^ - Event Masters bring joy, fun, excitement and immersion to the players of the server they're being Event Master on. They also bring frustration but that's only in some cases ;).

Hey @AlphaSnerpyDerp,

To answer your question, the role of an Event Master (EM) is to think of, create and run enjoyable role play and combat scenarios/events within the sever to spice up and add enjoyment to the day to day operations aboard the ISD. The event masters use ULX commands in order to run the events and will typically do events using either in game volunteers for the event characters of use NPC's and sometimes will use a combination of both. The event master will change the players job, give them a new skin and weapon load out as well as adjust their Health in order to suit the event details, the event master also works with other ULX commands such as teleportation of the event characters and re setting them to the event specifics after each death. Events can be run in many different styles which all create a different feel and allow for different interactions in-game and are sometimes run in relation to a story line which gives meaning and explanation behind multiple events, the styles are as follows;

  • Passive: Passive events focus more towards role play and player interactions and usually involve a friendly or neutral character entering the ship and conducting a task which allows other players to engage with. A example of this is one we have had numerous times, A trader comes aboard the ISD in a transport ship and lands in Main Hangar 1 the trader then proceeds to set up a small shop of sorts and sell items to the troopers aboard the ISD.
  • Aggressive: Aggressive events focus more towards the combat elements and completion of tasks and usually involve a rebel/hostile interaction which allows players to engage in combat scenarios. An example of this is a rebel ship exists hyperspace near the ISD, the ship begins siege on the ISD via rebel insurgency sending multiple waves of rebel forces to engage the troopers of the ISD. This allows the players to fight the rebels and also allows for small portions as RP as pilots may be scrambled to engage the hostile ship whilst the rest of the troops move to secure and lock down locations around the ship.
  • On-ship: On-ship events are events as the name suggests are conducted on ship, these events are small and medium scale tasks or combat scenarios that do not require a map change. An example of an on-ship event that we have had is when we had an infestation of vermin (bug like creatures) which had been breeding and laying dormant within the ventilation system and inevitably spread across the ship and began attacking troopers, this required both combat and RP elements as the troopers worked to dissolve the threat.
  • Off-ship: Off-ship events as the name suggests are events which take place off the ISD on another map, these events are usually of a larger scale and take more planning and time to complete. An example of an Off-ship event is one we had a while back where it began with an On-ship event of pirates attacking the ship and transitioned to us heading to their planet to wipe out them and gather information on who sent them after us, this required both role play elements such as initial interactions and interrogation and combat elements such as engaging the hostile outposts and advancing on their base of operations.
  • Passive/Aggressive: These events are a fusion of both passive and aggressive events and allow for a passive Role play scenario to take place prior to the aggressive phase of the event beginning. An example of this is an Infiltration, hostile characters board the star destroyer disguised as imperial personnel and act as such for a duration of time prior to attacking the members aboard the ship.

The coding aspect you spoke of is more so the role of the Development team who work hard on the the back end of the server creating and implementing new features into the server to enhance the player experience and allow for more overall enjoyment whilst on the server. More recently they have added several big changes such as the Quest Vendor which brought with it the quest system and the Infection/Disease system which brought with it more tasks and role play for members of the Medical Trooper regiment to conduct, the team is also working on several other big projects aimed to improve sever experience and bring additional content to the server.

If the Event Master role sounds like something you would enjoy or want to be apart I strongly advise you to apply as the server is always looking for new and create minds to add to the already amazing list of EM's in order to bring new ideas along. If you want further details on events or details regarding the role of Event Master you can look at the other EM Applications or speak to some of the other Event Master or even @Welshy who is the Head Event master for Imperial Gaming. The EM application template is below if you wish to submit one, I hope this has helped at all and enjoy the rest of your day.

Sincerily,

Sully/Wren
