Event Master Improvement and Feedback

Hey everyone,

As I am sure you all know, the Event Master team is here to make sure that you can enjoy your time on Imperial Gaming's Imperial RP server as much as possible.  To do that, we need to make sure we know what you want and how you would like to see it done!  To this end, we are asking for your feedback on the event master team and the events we are making!

 

Any and all constructive feedback is welcome, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could share your opinion on the following things:

- The types of events you like to see

- When you like events to be

- How many events do you think there should be in a day

- How do you feel about the current difficulty of events?

- What is your opinion regarding multi-day event chains, like the one @Guskywalker ran in the lead up to the DS-1 release?

We really value your feedback.  To this end, I will compile a list of main points one week after this is posted.  I will then later post an update, addressing exactly how we have taken what you have said and incorporated it into the team.

I think that events should be limited to certain time, say on in the morning at 10am, one at 1pm and another at 6pm. I feel they should be when the server is starting to feel bored but should still be spaced so that if everyone is bored we don't get three events in a row. What should happen is that events are "disabled" from 1am to 9am (due to low pop, not many event masters, etc.) but from 9am to 1am the events should not be time based. So say that there are a lot of mingers, then an event can happen to get them to focus their minging on the enemies of the empire rather than troopers of the empire. So in all the events would be more "free" so that it truly increases the RP as events are random and are not at a timed start.

I think there should be at least 4 or 3 (depending if it’s passive/offship/NPC) events on weekdays and maybe 5 or 4 on weekends. I think having set time periods for events would be good as sometimes there are too many events and sometimes there are too little. Maybe having like set time periods for EM”s to Claim would be good as members of the community know when to get on or off the server. I think it would also be nice if the troops could lose for once as nowadays the outcome is the same. It would also be nice to include campaigns more often like the one gusky did as the server pop is more stable now.

I disagree with having a set time to when events should occur. I'd prefer events to occur at random times making it non-predictable, as a surprise. If the event times are randomised there will be a consistent number of players online instead of a massive jump to a full server when an event is about to occur, and then a massive drop of players when people know an event will not happen any time soon.

However, there were some instances when an event would occur when the previous event barely ended an hour ago which I feel is a bit much. Perhaps it would be a good idea to occasionally make a poll "Event? [Yes] or [No]" before an event if one recently just ended (especially off-ship/Non-Passive events).

I reckon 3-4 events in a day is sufficient. 

Also, I'd like to see a higher probability of the Empire losing. Would be good for RP.

I think that Event Characters Loadouts should be more balanced. A lot of the time EC's only get EE-3's and a pistol. The EE-3 is probably one of if not the worst gun and the pistols can't do anything with 7 rounds in each mag vs 100+ players. As well as this the HP could also be better. Say if you have 6 EC's maybe buff their HP and Weapons since they are going up against 100+ players. I know that the job of the EC is to entertain the players and give them a common goal but I do believe EC's should still have a fighting chance instead of instantly dying whenever someone with a Pulse Cannon or E-11D walks around a corner. Basically, I think that EM's should be a little more flexible with the way that they give out weapons and HP. Say if you're doing an event and 4 players have to go, don't leave the remaining 6 with the same weapons, you should probably switch it up and give them a chance. That's just my input, thanks for everything EM Team, Keep up the good work. :)

The types of events you'd like to see: I believe there should be more Rebels/Pirates/Raiders/Creatures attack type of events. What I mean by this is more events where we aren't defending a useless area on a planet and actually going and wiping out a Rebel/Pirate/Raider/Creature presence off the face of the planet. I don't really like the events where we are sent to a small base and tasked to defend it when there is more then 70+ players online on the server, it's just a cluster when that happens and for many of us a giant destroyer of frames. I would also like to see events where certain regiments like "Elite" ones getting tasked with special missions not just put on the front-line with all the other attack/defend regiments. Most specialist regiments that get sent with the main force get demolished and it changes the focus of the medics to the dead specialist regiments because their HP is not built for front-line attacking.

When you like events to be: I believe events should be done on a schedule like for example: 6:00 am - 10:00 am the event masters in this time period consistently after every hour put a vote up asking the players server side if they want a event and what type of event they want (2 separate votes). I've seen event masters trying to put schedules up for when they're going to do events but it normally doesn't work out, I'm sure it goes well at first but sooner or later it fails due to an event master having IRL issues to deal with.

How many events do you think there should be in a day: I believe there should be 5-6 maximum and or 3 minimum. The events also shouldn't been done one after the other because too much of something can throw players off and not make them enjoy it. They should be done when players are getting bored.

How do you feel about the current difficulty of events?: I think the difficulty of events are just fine, I can't see events getting harder unless the event masters make the troopers do a hundred things at once.

What is your opinion regarding multi-day event chains: I think the ones that have been done recently by @Guskywalker were absolutely great. I would love to see more event chains happening by event masters. The only problem with event chains is that if a player joins in and the event chain has already done 2 out of 5 events the player might be confused on what's going on, this is the only problem I see with this.
