Golaith's EM App

Steam Name:
Goliath [PFD]

Age:
17

Do you have a microphone that you can use regularly?:
Yes

Steam ID:
STEAM_0:1:65670165

In-game name and rank:
Navy Chief [INC Secretary] Proctor

Time Played:
3 Weeks 2 Days 12 Hours 43 Minutes 35 Seconds
(This is current, I had roughly another +4 weeks from before resets)

Why are you applying for this position?:
As of recent, I have seen the stress get to a few members of the staff team, particularly the event masters.  Having to run events in and out each day can be tiring and can affect not only the quality of events (although it rarely does) but the health and wellbeing of the EM’s, leading to burnout.  I also want to expand the scope of roleplay on the server, looking more at the changing views of (non-radical) civilian populations and the empires governance in the senate.  I am also applying due to the resignation of many EM’s, so I can help keep the server running.

How will allowing you to be apart of our staff team help us?:
By joining the staff team, I will be able to help take the load of the other event masters, leading to all round better events.  I can bring an immense knowledge of Star Wars and the empire, allowing for a wide variety of roleplay within events.  Another innovation I can bring is varied gameplay in events, as gameplay is just as important as story.

Have you been an Event Master on previous servers? If so please list them:

  • Republic/Synthetic Gaming JvS Admin
  • Imperial Gaming HaloRP Trial-Moderator
  • Imperial Gaming DarkRP Moderator
  • Imperial Gaming Imperial RP Trial Event Master
  • Dungeon master of 3 pre-made and 2 custom D&d 5E campaigns (yes this is relevant, there is a lot of the same storytelling and player engagement elements)

Have you had any warnings, kicks or bans if so please list them:
Castiel
Dcing while in restraints
18/03/17

Suna
Abusing job (using gravity gun to kill people)
27/01/17

Please note that these warns are roughly 1 year old.

What can you do to make events more enjoyable and attract more people?:
To make events more enticing for players you don’t only have to have great roleplay (something the server has in abundance) but fun, differing and engaging gameplay.  An event with a great story can be ruined by having simple gameplay and visa versa.  I believe that I can balance these elements and can make events more enjoyable for all involved.

Anything else you would like to add?:
Nothing in particular except for the fact that I have been around a while and have helped act in (and even create/organise) a few events.  I would appreciate any and every piece of constructive feedback and will update my application accordingly.  I am also working through the previous indecent that lead to my resignation/demotion.

Prelude:
The moff and his two guards will land on the star destroyer, where he will call a meeting with a high ranking member of the Army (MHC), Navy and the ISB.  In this meeting, he will detail how a colony ship carrying crops that can grow on the inhospitable outer planets of his system went missing with all hands.  He will ask the ISB to decrypt a message that was intercepted just before the ship disappeared.  He will then ask the navy to warp to the last known location of the colony ship.  While the navy patrol the space nearby, the ISB will have 10 mins to decode the message, consisting of a fairly simple code such as this: “----- .---- .---- .---- ----- .---- ----- -----     ----- .---- .---- ----- ----- .---- ----- .----     ----- .---- .---- .---- ----- ----- .---- .----     ----- .---- .---- .---- ----- .---- ----- -----     ----- ----- .---- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----     ----- .---- .---- ----- ----- ----- .---- .----     ----- .---- .---- ----- .---- .---- .---- .----     ----- .---- .---- ----- ----- .---- ----- -----     ----- .---- .---- ----- ----- .---- ----- .----”.  If they can’t decode it by the time that the ship arrives, scenario 1 will occur.  If they do manage to decrypt it, scenario 2 will occur.
Scenario 1:
As the ship scans the area for the missing colony ship, a briefing will be called.  Troopers will be told we are participating in a non-combat search and rescue mission, and that members of the navy, pilots, rescue troopers and medics should be on alert and ready to respond.  As the troopers are dismissed, an explosion will rock the ship.  The colony ship, now converted by the mon, calamari into a battle ship, will open fire on the Star Destroyer.  Navy will return fire, being given orders not to destroy the ship.  Pilots will scramble and fight 2 A-wings and then bomb the enemy battleship.  After both ships have taken shots the SD will come out on top and will be able to send over a few troop transports to board the enemy ship with an escort.  One more A-wing will attack and the pilots in the TIE will have to defend the convoy of boarding ships for 1 min.  End of the prelude.
Scenario 2:
The message that the ISB decrypt shows that the colony ship has been captured by rebels and converted into a warship.  THe star destroyer will prepare for combat, with pilots preparing for launch and troopers reporting to the main hangar to prepare to board the enemy vessel.  After a fight, where the SD gets the jump on the enemy and the pilots take out 2 A-wings, the troopers will move to board the enemy ship.  End of the prelude.
Main event:
All main part event characters will be set up.  The captain and the bridge LT will be put on the bridge, the rebel spawn will be set in the 2nd floor bunks.  One droid will be sent to the engine room and the other to the crops.  All elevators will be blocked off as shown below.  Three sets of 3 coloured datapads will be placed on the ship (no more than 2 on each level) and collection points placed at the trooper spawn.  Due to flight time from the SD there will be a spawn time.  The door out of spawn will only be opened for 10 seconds every 1 min for scenario 2 and every 2mins for scenario 1.  This is completely mitigated if the red secondary objective is completed.
Troops will be informed that all access routes up to the next level have been sealed with the exception of the medical bay.  Troopers are to take the medical bay from the rebel special forces (who have two lives each) + 3 NPC waves.  Once this is done, troopers will be tolled their further objectives.
Sith are to head to the engine and disable the shield protecting the biodome (room with crops) and then move there to secure the 3 crates of seeds.  Troopers are to sweep through the second level and eliminate the rest of the rebel special forces (4 lives each)+ 6 NPC waves.  They are also told to look out for datapads as they will unlock more elevators and secondary objectives.
The elevators and secondary objectives are colour coded.  When enough data pads of the correct colour are brought to the area at spawn (3 for scenario 1, 2 for scenario 2), the elevator will be unlocked and the objective activated.  For more information about the secondary objectives, see below.
After the primary objectives have been completed and at least 1 of the blue or red objectives completed, all troops will be ordered to retreat to the hangar for evac.  31st (and 442nd if necessary) will be told to place explosives in the engine room, incinerators will burn the remaining crops and then join the rest of the troopers.
We will then depart back to the SD for a debrief and blow the ships engine, leaving it to fall apart.  The mood of debrief will depend on if scenario 1 or 2 was completed, and how many secondary objectives were finished.

Primary objectives (in order):
Secure the medbay
Secure the 2nd floor (troopers-1)
Disable the biodome shield (sith-1)
Secure the biodome (sith-2)
Transport the crops to the drop zone (troopers-2)
Burn the remaining crops & blow the engine room
Evac the ship
Secondary Objectives
Blue
Unlocks shower block elevator
Allows access to the sleeping chambers where engineers can spend time taking apart and deconstructing the hibernation pods, trying to find out how the advanced sleeper technology works.  Needs the equivalent of 10 mins of manpower to complete (e.g it would take two engineers 5 mins each).  Navy & ISB count for ½ time.
Red
Unlocks the bridge access corridor
Allows for the option to capture the ship’s captain and LT.  They will surrender on ½ health.  After 5 mins of interrogation, the CPT will disable the ship's defence systems, allowing for instant respawn.  The LT will give access to the ship's data core, reducing the amount of data pads required by one and allowing access to the blast doors.
Green
Unlocks the hangar elevator
The armoury can now be raided, allowing for troopers to get a select amount of powerful weapons.  Only officer cadet+ can access the armoury.

Spoiler

Please note that this event is a bit less detailed, as it allows for more fluidity of roleplay.)
In order to deal with a string of terrorist attacks, the ship and its troopers have been deployed to reinforce the garrison within the city of Theed, with a specific mandate of NOT killing civilians..  There will be 4 main areas of interest, the imperial garrison/LZ outside the city, the civilian agricultural dome inside the city, the local security office (the building where we normally start events) and the criminal den (inside the sewers).  Troops will be split into groups and sent to these locations to guard them (with the exception of 1 group for the criminal den, who will go on patrol).  The first thing that will happen is that a few crates of seeds will be stolen from the agricultural dome by some thieves, who will take them to the underground den.  If the patrol group can successfully recover the crates and capture a  thief, ISB can torture him to find out that there has been a terrorist attack planned.  As this happens, terrorists will attack both the bio dome & the LZ.  Command must then decide which of the two locations they will defend.  After this happens, the terrorists will withdraw and call fro the rebels.  During the fight with the rebels, there will be a disadvantage depending on what area wasn’t defended.  After repelling the attack, the local garrison will be back up to full strength and we will leave.

Hey @Fancy, thanks for your feedback.  I noticed that your reply is not that detailed, is there any chance you could elaborate on your reasons for your support status so I can improve?  I would appreciate it if you Private messaged me or left another reply here.

+1 he has been on for a while and still active

also fancy why a -1

-1 Because I believe he's only applying just because people are leaving not because he wants to be an EM and benefit with any creative events. I'd rather much love a person that actually wanted to be an EM not just because they feel that they have to because people are leaving therefore doing a poor job. I want to see an event that's not more a "oh invasion get these areas back again", I want creativity. All these events are basically reskins on the ones done before.

I hope you realise that Goliath has been staff on two of IG's most popular servers, so I don't see how he is only doing it for power. He is doing it because there is no one else to do it, and he wants to get back at because an event master once again.

Well he did say he was doing because people were leaving and that's not what I want to hear. I want to hear him say he wants to do it because he wants to, otherwise it doesn't prove to me it motivates him to do the job. I understand he's been staff before, idk how his events were like before or why he left so I can't really say so much however from that example event he's given it looks basically like the generic get back this and that.

BTW If you want to (like others have said before) not argue on someone's app, PM me and I'll provide more answers to more of your questions or statements :).

Hey fancy, thanks for your feedback!  Below I will try to respond to some of your points and adress your concerns.

It is true I am applying due to the shortage of staff, although your comment regarding myself not wanting to be and EM or help the community with creative events is false.  I have been an EM on here before and since I got back, I have been waiting to post an EM application.  I was planing on waiting till mid march, so that I could show that I am well and truly here to stay, but recent events have made it clear I could be of more assistance now than in a month and a half.  As for creative events, that's what I am all about!  I have tried to make my example events in depth and creative by including features such as:

  • secondary objectives
  • lore accurate characters, locations and ships
  • progressive staging
  • semi-passive roleplay
  • branching, player driven stories
  • and more!

Another thing to note is that, while I do admit that my first event isn't completely original in regards to story, it focuses on game play and how I believe that it can be improved.  I would also like to point out the neither of my two events are based around the idea of "oh invasion get these areas back again".  One focuses on how the Mon Calamari would convert luxury/city ships into cruisers & capitol class ships for the rebellion, and the other on US style "peacekeeping" and the impacts of terrorism.

If there is any other concerns I can adress, feel free to contact me :).

+1 because he addressed it and was nice about it.

+1 because he didn't whine and took the feedback and what I believed in and responded with a proper rebuttal.

+1 because he proved me wrong.

+1 expanded my view on it.

EDIT: oh and he actually wants to be EM not just because he feels that HE HAS TO.

How come you left em the first time then talked shit about the staff team?

Hey @Wilson06, thanks for your question.

As some of you know, I was involved in what has become known as the derivative gaming incident. During this time I felt dissolutioned by certain members of the staff team, particularly elements of management and the development team at the time. Because of this, I resigned and left a less than nice message about a few people. After a long period of reflection, I realised a few things:

1. They way I handled the situation was immature. I said things without thinking and didn't talk to the management team and try to resolve these issues before taking the "nuclear" option.

2. After some time, thought and a early morning viewing of the two hour interview with members (current and former) of management on @Gamma's stream, I have come to realise that my points for wanting to leave were intrinsically flawed in the first place.

I have apologised for these actions before, and I do so again now. I can't take back what I did, all I can do is promise that I will never act like that again. If you have any other concerns, please let me know.
