pinejack's Event Master Application

Recommended Posts

Steam Name: [IG] pinejack

Age: 17

Do you have a microphone that you can use regularly? I do have a microphone and I almost always use it.

Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:80614652

In-game name and rank: I am currently going by the name Shrapnel and I am a Second Lieuntenant and Commander of the Royal Stormtrooper Corps.

Time Played: 03w 4d 04h 00m (as of last edit).

Why are you applying for this position?: I am applying for the role of Event Master on the ImperialRP server once again as I would love to have a go at being staff another shot at being staff as an Event Master once again. I have held this position twice in the past (leaving both times due to inability to find time for the server due to real life issues or obligations). I believe that I am now able to successfully juggle my time between real life and time on the server (which can be seen by my activity) and I think that I could offer some fresh, new and exciting approaches to events both on and off the ship. I am applying for the staffing position as I have obviously fallen in love with the community and everyone who is a part of it (as seen by my time within the community, along with on the forums) and I am looking to further improve the quality of the server for those who play on it, along with making it more attractive for those who have never played the gamemode before but decide to give it a go.

How will allowing you to be apart of our staff team help us?: I believe that allowing me to be a part of the staff team, more specifically the Event Master Team, will allow me to greater enhance the roleplay experiences of the players on the server by running a large number of varied events both on and off the ship, along with more unique PassiveRP opportunities between scheduled events. Due to my various previous experiences, more specifically as an Event Master on the server, I have a greater idea of how events are meant to be run and how to run them properly, whether that be by allowing the event to go based off of the decisions of those members on the server, allowing more regiments to use their specialised skills correctly or in the right situations or to create more opportunities for the Sith to do whilst the troopers do something else completely different. As an Event Master, I would also be able to answer questions posed by members of the server and the community as a whole more effectively and efficiently, along with being able to aid those who require it. I would also try my best to run unique events with their own individual flair, whilst also having a continuous storyline like they used to back when the server was only a few months old. By doing this, I think that it would give a better sense of accomplishment for those who actively participate within all of my events as they can see where their hard work goes, opposed to it just being how it is now where it is done and dusted in an hour or two, never to be brought up again.

Have you been an Event Master on previous servers? If so please list them: I have held a number of different staff ranks on numerous Garry's Mod servers which include:

Have you had any warnings, kicks or bans if so please list them: I only have one warning on my record from Cody on 17.09.2017 for disconnecting during an arrest when in reality, my internet dropped out which resulted in my dropping from the server, TeamSpeak, etc.

What can you do to make events more enjoyable and attract more people?: As I have written earlier in the application, I think that I can make events more enjoyable on the server, whilst also attracting more players to the server, by offering fresh ideas (or those that are very old) that offer a great deal of flexibility and are more fluid than current events where the final result of the event is more determined by the actions of the troopers involved rather than being predetermined before the event even begins. I would also like to make my events have enough individuality whilst also maintaining a concurrent and eventful story arc (or arcs). I want to be able to create a timeline with my events as it would not only give some context from one event to another, but it would also create some ongoing roleplay opportunities such as a regimental commander growing to dislike certain characters who do things towards them or their troopers (make a nemesis). I believe that this would lead to better Commanders meetings before events as everyone present would have some kind of knowledge about or interactions with those involved on the opposing side. It would give more of a sense of progression and troopers would actually be able to see their hard work pay off over time as the arc (or arcs) progress with each coming day. It would also give a sense of wait as the troopers would know that they'd be attacking 'these' people on 'this' for whatever reason.

Anything else you would like to add: No

Do you have basic knowledge of ulx commands: I think I have quite a good understanding of ULX commands as I believe I have used all of them to some extent previously in the past.

Two different example events that you will do if you get accepted for the position of Event Master: Below are two events that I would like to run if I were to become an Event Master on the server. I will give a quick brief overview of the events here but you can find the full, detailed, event plan if you wish to read them below. The first event is an on ship event where the crew of the Star Destroyer comes across a debris field from a recent battle between the Black Sun and the Rebel Alliance, who wanted their Gozanti cruiser back which the Black Sun had stolen for the Empire just rotations earlier. The ship drops out of hyperspace on the edge of the debris field and moves in to investigate and see if anything of use could be found within the mangled wrecks of the starships. They would send out a party of troopers with thruster packs and space suits to search among the wreck for clues of what happened, or where the ships had come from. Whilst a crew is out searching the wrecks, the ship happens to bump into one of the pieces of debris, which was actually a damaged seismic detonator from one of the Black Sun ships. Due to the explosion, the party outside of the ship no longer have any way to get back into the Star Destroyer and only have a limited amount of time before their oxygen reserves run out. It is up to the troopers both in and outside the ship to work together and figure out a way to rescue them. Depending on how many bits of the wreckage the party searches and whether or not they make it back safely will determine how much extra information they will have for the next event.

Name: The Battle of Belsavis

Map: rp_stardestroyer_ig_v1

Characters:

  • Space Troopers
    • Model: models/player/starwars/mistersweetroll/riottrooper.mdl
    • Colour: Orange (255, 191, 0, 255), Rose (255, 0, 97, 255) and Teal (63, 127, 127, 255)
    • Weapons/Equipment: Standard and "realistic_hook"
    • Health/Armour: Standard and Standard
    • Speed/Jump: Standard, 500 Jump Power

Premise: The Imperial Navy receive an open distress signal from an area of space just outside the Balsavis system from a Black Sun fleet, who were being attacked by a Rebel fleet whilst transporting a previously stolen Gozanti Cruiser to a nearby Imperial Station for a reward. The distress beacon indicates that they are unable to successfully hold off the Rebel Fleet and will be forced to dump the Cruiser if no help arrives soon. After receiving this information, the Navy aboard the ship must decide whether or not to go to their aid or to just wait until a victor has prevailed. Once a decision is reached, they must then act on it. If the Navy choose to aid the Black Sun immediately, they may encounter some hostile Rebel OR Black Sun starfighters, for which a squadron of TIE Fighters must be deployed. If they choose to wait until one side has won, or just take too long to come to a decision, all enemy fighters will have left the system leaving only the smoldering debris field remaining.

Action:  Once the Imperial Fleet drops out of hyperspace, they will encounter a large debris field, but nothing dangerous enough to breach the ships shield system or reinforced hull plating. The debris field is made up of what appears to be various damaged, second-hand fighters, such as Z-95 Headhunters, Y-Wing Bombers, Droid Tri-Fighters just to name a few. Along with these, there are various cargo containers, escape pods, hull plates and engine modules. There is also a relatively intact Mon Calamari Cruiser that has been disabled and abandoned nearby. The Navy will call 10-20 various troopers from different regiments to the bridge where they will then be outfitted with space suits and tow cables, who will then be sent out to investigate the various debris clusters for any useful supplies, weapons, components or information that may be present. Once the away party has fully departed the ship via the Main Hanger Bay and have reached their first debris cluster, there will have been a large explosion go off from inside the Star Destroyers docking bay where a damaged seismic charge left over from the skirmish earlier has exploded, enabling the ships countermeasures, sealing the main blast doors, TIE bay doors, secondary blast doors and all external access ports, meaning that the away team would be trapped outside with only a limited amount of oxygen remaining. Both the outside away team and the troopers within must then try and devise a way to get the troopers back inside the Star Destroyer before their oxygen supply runs dry.

Away Team: Now that the away team has been stranded outside the Star Destroyer with a depleting oxygen supply, they have to make the decision of trying to get back inside the ship, trying to salvage as much wreak as possible or a balance of both. It is up to the away team to search each debris cluster one by one or try and get back in the ship by any means necessary. Whilst out in the debris field, they will find (if they look in the correct locations):

  • A cargo crate which contains a cargo manifest documenting all cargo aboard a Black Sun freighter which managed to get away, along with a large stock of stolen E-11D blaster rifles.
  • A navi-computer from a Rebel flagship with coordinates of an old Rebel outpost, along with other useful information.
  • A protocol droid that was stolen by the Black Sun from the Hutt Cartel that has useful information regarding a large Kyber Crystal.

Ship Team: With the away team trapped outside the Star Destroyer, it is up to them to try and converse with them and work out a strategy to get them, and whatever useful items they find outside in the debris field, inside the ship before their oxygen supply runs dry and they die in the cold vacuum of space. The team on the bridge will be trying to get them inside by whatever means are necessary. Whilst the bridge crew is preoccupied with this, the troopers will come across an oddly shaped object that has pierced the hull in the engine room. When the troopers go to investigate the debris, it will begin to generate a large shield which will lock off the troopers within the engine room from those outside of it. All the troopers inside of the ship will then be confronted by the Captain from one of the Black Sun vessels who will then challenge each trooper one by one to single combat. If none of the troopers survive, he will call reinforcements to the sector, further jeopardising the lives of the away team, but if a trooper is successful, he will not as he will have been given the death that he deserved. Even if the Captain is not defeated, the 'reinforcements' will not arrive as it was just a bluff but he will kill himself in a fiery inferno that will severely damage the main reactor, but not enough to make it go critical and explode, just slow the functions of the ship substantially.

Ending: Once the troopers have either successfully or unsuccessfully defeated the Black Sun Captain, they will report to debrief to receive a mission briefing from a Naval officer who will inform them of the status of the away team, along with any objects retrieved by them. Once this has happened, depending on the situation of the away team and how they were rescued (or not), the engineers will then have to repair the various areas of the ship that may have been damaged such as the docking bay, the main hanger, the engine room or more for at least 30 minutes, giving enough time for the Event Master to get ready to set up the next part of the event, if at least one piece of information was retrieved.

3

The second event would be an off-ship event following on from the previous event (seen above) where dependant on what information is gathered, the troopers would be deployed to one of three locations consisting of an old Rebel outpost, a Black Sun spaceport and a Ship Dockyard on a Backwater Moon. When the troopers arrive at one of the locations, they will be tasked with finding one of three objectives based on the location. If they are sent to the old Rebel outpost, they will be looking for an old navi-computer which hopefully has sets of coordinates from the ships previous jumps to be able to cross-reference with one recovered from the space battle to find the location of the Rebel shipyard. If they are sent to the Black Sun spaceport, they will be looking for five crates of various illegal and outlawed weapons which were being transported by one of the Black Sun ships which escaped the battle (discovered via cargo manifest from other ship). If they are sent to the Ship Dockyard on the Moon, the troopers must attempt to located and retrieve an undercover spy working for the port who has valuable information on where a giant kyber crystal is being housed by the Hutt Cartel. On the various planets, the troopers will face various obstacles depending on where they are, and if they fail, they will not be able to retrieve the information or goods that were required. If the party that was looking through the space debris was able to find multiple items of interest, then the crew of the ship may be sent to any number of the planets or locations seen above over the coming days, to be able to close in on the parties involved.

Premise: After the incident in the Debris field earlier in the day, the Engineers have been hard at work repairing the ship whilst the Navy and ISB have been processing the information and objects that were collected during the salvage mission. Dependant on what the away team managed to collect, there will be 3 locations that the Commanders can vote on going to (if collected). These are, as follows

  • An old abandoned Rebel base in which a retired flagship is being left to rot. There is information that has identified that the navi-computer is still intact and in working order within the flagship, which could be compared to the navi-computer collected from the debris field in order to locate the actual Rebel base of opertations.
  • A starport owned by the Black Sun, where it is believed that at least five cargo crates containing various illegal, rare and dangerous weapons which would be very useful for the Imperial troops in the battles to come.
  • A Hutt owned Star Port where it is believed that they are holding a giant blue kyber crystal that they are intending to sell to another buyer. This item is extremely valuable and could be used for a number of applications if not successfully taken from them.

Once the Commanders have decided where they are wanting to go, the Navy will set course for the designated location and the troopers called to debrief in order explain the mission, objectives, risks, threats, and consequences for failure.

Action: For this event, the troopers only retrieved the protocol droid that was stolen by the Black Sun from the Hutt Cartel with useful information regarding a large Kyber Crystal that is currently in their possession. Once the troopers reach the surface of the planet, they will be met by the Postmaster, who is interested why the Imperials have arrived at Starport as they are no longer welcome after the destruction they had caused when they were there last time looking for a Jedi Master that survived Order 66. Obviously, the Imperials do not have time for this so they may choose to do with him as they wish. Once dealt with, the troopers are free to move further into the port. They may do as they wish with the various inhabitants and passer-throughs, whether that be to leave them be or to question them about the presence of the Kyber Crystal at the base. As the troopers begin to get closer to the location of the Kyber Crystal, they will then begin to start to encounter Black Sun members, who will begin to get highly suspicious of the Imperials and attack them on sight as soon as they reach the location of the trade deal. At this point, a group of pirates who were hired by the Hutt Cartel to reclaim their crystal will then attack the location at the same time as the Imperials, causing them to be trapped between the two opposing forces. During this time, the Black Sun members, along with their Smuggler buyer, will attempt to get the Crystal out of the area and on to a waiting cargo transport. The Imperial forces must not allow the crystal to leave the base as it could have disastrous consequences at a future date, and could jeopardise a number of different Imperial projects.

Ending:   Once the troopers and Sith have either successfully stopped and captured the Kyber Crystal, or have let it escape the base, they must get it back to the LZ, where they will then find their ship has been magnetically sealed to the landing pad by the dockmaster due to their treatment of him earlier when they arrived on his base, along with a large squad of both Black Sun and Pirate members. The navy, troops and sith must work out a way to free their shuttles from the locks so that they may get back to the Star Destroyer. Once they finally arrive back at the ship, all personnel will be called to debrief and either given a positive and well deserved debrief at how they had successfully taken the Kyber Crystal from the Black Sun and how it will now be sent off with the Sith for their own personal use. If they ended up losing or destroying the crystal, they will be given a harsh and stern debriefing about how they managed to let the crystal get away from them (or how it was destroyed) and how it will now have a devastating effect on the advancements within the Sith and the Empire as a whole.

Question asks "have you been an Event Master" not Developer/ Mod/ Admin. Neutral though in general, can be a good guy but tends to have a bit of a bad side.

pinejack is one of my very very close friends and I honestly believe he would be a great addition to the elite team of Event Masters.

He has the maturity and the creativity of one.

Also he is a sexy lady.

I don't know why anyone has not said this yet.
That has to be easily the best application I've ever read. Very well set out and very descriptive. I've had some more than "interesting" encounters with you but there is no way I can't +1 this application. You've made some awesome events and gone into great detail. So I'm going to make a non-bias decision and +1 the hell out of this!

+1 - Yes Pinejack has had his issues in the past but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he has learned and grown from them.

Pinejackoriginally taught me the ropes as a young EM and how things were done as I was green as anything.

As long as he can adapt and produces enough events per week he would make a great candidate.

Thanks for the responses @Kendrick and @Mauler.

I will be updating the application a bit later today and refining it some more, the only issue is when there is that amount of text, editing it becomes quite laggy and delayed.
